The Marais Réal-D.-Carbonneau is a natural site located just 5 minutes from downtown Sherbrooke, Quebec. It's a perfect spot for observing nature, with its rich biodiversity and picturesque landscapes. The trails are very easy, making it a place I particularly enjoy when my body needs a break and for walking with a puppy that isn't ready for more challenging terrain.

Here are some activities you can enjoy there:

  1. Observation of Fauna and Flora: Marais Réal-D.-Carbonneau is home to a wide variety of animal and plant species. It's an excellent location for birdwatching, observing amphibians, both small and large mammals, as well as numerous species of wild plants and flowers.

  2. Photography: Thanks to its biodiversity and stunning natural landscapes, the marsh is a prime spot for both amateur and professional photographers.

  3. Hiking: The site features well-maintained hiking trails, allowing visitors to stroll through a natural and peaceful setting.

  4. Environmental Education: Marais Réal-D.-Carbonneau offers educational activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of wetland conservation and environmental protection.

  5. Picnicking: Designated areas are available for those who wish to picnic in a charming natural setting.

  6. Stargazing: Occasionally, stargazing events are organized, taking advantage of the low light pollution in the area.

  7. Seasonal Activities: Depending on the season, the marsh may offer special activities, such as bird migration observations or educational programs for children during the summer.

You can also take the Sentiers de l'Estrie trail in the area that connects Marais Réal-D.-Carbonneau to Debonair Park for an additional 4.5 km. This extends the hike for a total duration of about 1.5 hours, depending on your pace.

The trail is shaded by trees along its entire length.
